TREKKING
IN THE ARUN
In the heart of the eastern Himalayas, lie the Arun and other gorgeous valleys
radiating from the Mt. Makalu, the fifth highest peak in the world. These
valleys treasure some of the most beautiful forests and alpine meadows of
Nepal. From the bottom of the Arun valley at 435 mts, the Himalayas rise
to the top of the Mt. Makalu (8463 mts) within the distance of some 40 km.
The valleys are in inhabited mainly by the Rais, Sherpas and Shingsawa farmers. They retain a rich culture even though they are economically poor. There are beautiful wild flowers and exotic plants (more than 3000 species of flowering plants and many orchid varieties). This area is relatively less known to tourist because of its inaccessibility, but those who visit are assured to take back an unforgettable experience.
